  • The Postnatal Unit offers a range of services for you and your newborn baby.  You can discuss any questions or concerns with the attending midwives.

Television and Phone Your bedside phone will receive incoming calls but to make outgoing calls you will need to purchase a phone card from the cashier’s desk on the first floor. To connect your bedside televisions please go to the cashier’s desk on the first floor. The cost of this is $5.50 per 24 hours.

Menus and Meals Your meals are served at the following approximate times:
Breakfast 7.30 am, Lunch 12.30pm and Dinner 5.30pm

To promote bonding and to help establish feeding your baby will stay in your care during all of your hospital stay. We call this rooming-in. Please complete your baby’s feeding chart after each feed. The midwives can explain how to fill in these details. Staff will examine your baby each day from head to toe. Please let them know if you have any concerns. It is important to inform a midwife if your baby’s name band falls off, your baby needs two name bands on at all times.

You will need to provide all of your own nappies, wipes, baby clothes and wraps. If you have chosen to formula feed your baby we ask that you provide your own formula and the hospital will provide you with disposable bottles for the length of your stay.
