Penny Sanderson with a patient

The GRIP project has researched the needs of consumers and therapists and reviewed compression garment suppliers throughout Australia.

Eight major tasks were addressed:

1)    Identify and review all possible suppliers within Australia;

2)    Establish the range of garments supplied;

3)    Review consumer needs, choice and accessibility to garments;

4)    Survey and establish Lymphoedema therapist trends reviewing their expectations and choices;

5)    Consider current standards for lymphoedema compression garments;

6)    Establish criteria for supplier selection to the program;

7)    Identify standards set for compression garments internationally;

8)    Develop process for supplier selection

This project has encompassed surveys and focus groups with both rural and metropolitan consumers and therapists across Victoria, who have been diagnosed with lymphoedema or treat lymphoedema.  This research has provided greater understanding of the perception of consumers and therapists of the use and supply of compression garments.
